ATN MK 390 vs. D-145

I am looking to purchase a NV scope to put on a AR15 M4 for varmit hunting and have come down to either the ATN MK 390 or the D-145. I'm limited to what I can spend ($400 to $500) and these two have the options I'm looking for. I like the red on green reticule and really like the mil-dot on the D-145. I'm concerned that the MK390 will be to big a bulky for an M4. I was hoping that someone with more knowledge on both scopes could give me an idea of the better scope. Is the MK 390 that much better of a scope that it's worth the extra money?

My personal favorite is the D-145 for a number of reasons. It is super compact, built-in IR (with a rail for an optional ELR), mil-dor reticule. The 2.5x may not seem like a lot, but in my experience that is a perfect match with the capabilities of Gen 1+. Also, it operates on regular AAs, rather then the pricey 3V CR123s.
