ir laser illuminator wanted

does anyone have a ir laser illuminator lying about . i have a digital mono with built in ir but want to use a laser for better viewing 80mw will do

Hi Spuddy,

make sure that you get a laser with the correct wavelength.
A wrong wavelength could make the beam invisible to your NV gadget.
Don't ask me what wavelength would be correct for you.
Somebody else knows perhaps?

thanks bertie anywhere between 780-800nm maybe a tad higher will do
i have one of these already but just wanted another laser as i have a digital monocular and wanted to fit it to that

The unit in your photo (N351/N800 etc) is emitting ~785nm, the Dipol L3 would be around 810nm & your 'Digital Mono' will probably be able to work with IR light right up to 1000nm. The big problem is finding a unit above 840nm - they're pretty rare & lasers even rarer
I believe 'Laserluchs' (which aren't actually lasers ) make some units around the 890nm area & Thomas Jacks may have them listed (http://www.thomasjacks.co.uk/subgroup.asp?ids=7) but they are available in Germany, which is their country of origin.

For a laser things get tough, this outlet used to show one or two 900+nm lasers but I haven't noticed them recently...

BTW - The US has severe restrictions on IR lasers, Spuddy, they are not allowed to be retailed to the US public.
